Velddrif Things to Do & See
Velddrif Things to Do & See
The meandering Berg River reflects the tranquility of this fishing village. A birder’s mecca and fishermen, bokkoms and beaches, this is what life is all about. Our lovely beaches are situated along St Helena Bay and form part of the West Coast Whale Route. A deep water marina and excellent sailing conditions in St Helena Bay are added attractions.
The bay is home to migrating whales between July and December each year and there are many vantage points from which to view these
magnificent creatures. Resident dolphins can be seen frolicking in the waves throughout the year. Rocher Pan is a nature reserve and bird
sanctuary north of the town; Laaiplek is a nearby fishing port; Port Owen is a marina complex situated between Velddrif and Laaiplek and
Dwarskersbos is a popular holiday destination.
